(I just ran into the other room and took a few snaps and now have some pics to post).
This is a series I started a while ago. It is from gas works park. It is supposed to be a chance to work in rough hewn style. I am undecided about its outcome. it is looking not too bad as a quartet. I think also that when i started I had in mind something accessible for public consumption. Ideally cheap, interesting and identifiable. I'm not sure how that worked out. A second try would certainly be don in a different manner. Last night I had the idea of a lino-cut or a mono print. That'd be a good way I think. I think.
This is from the aforementioned sketch book. One aspect I like about the re-working of book pages is that the idea of copying a picture has a whole other impact than it otherwise would. The work become more curious and suggestive with the juxtaposition and combination of images and such. As I mentioned somewhere else, it gives me a stepping stone to work off of that I would not otherwise have on the blank page. It frees me up to relax and be casual about what I am doing so i do not feel obliged to do one thing or another. This can be very refreshing for a person like me.
This is also a new sketchbook piece. It can be filed under ABSTRACT. I like it myself but I cannot critique it in any meaningful way. This usually about when I have left over paint on my palette and have a particularly un fruitful previous work to mess with. I wish I had a before to compare this pic to.
